With hearts full love and gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of our beloved Rose, who left us peacefully on Saturday October 3, 2026.
Throughout the 90 years of her life, Rose made everyone who entered her world feel special. She was a devout wife, selfless mother, doting grandmother, and warm friend to so many who were fortunate to know her. Rose was best known for the open invitation to her dining room table and warm kitchen where generous amounts of food were always being prepared. Some of our favorites included Rose’s homemade chicken noodle soup, lasagna, and “warm from the oven” chocolate chip cookies. During summer months Rose kept her grandchildren busy for hours, whether it be teaching them how to prepare homemade cinnamon rolls, providing a well-worn wiffle ball diamond in her backyard, or taking them on a memorable trip to the beach. She loved to find treasures at garage sales, enjoyed her annual trips to Winter Haven, Florida, and was an avid cruiser. Rose was a devout Catholic; she attended mass faithfully and could always be counted on to pray for her family and friends. She spent her final years at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe and regularly brought love and a smile to the wonderful staff who watched after her during the last chapter of her life.
Rose was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim DeMarais; her beloved daughter, Annette DeMarais; precious great granddaughter, Lara DeMarais; son-in-law, Brad Beachy; and siblings, Barbara Strong, Joanne Guza, Michael Guza, Donald Guza, and Ronald Guza.
Her legacy will be lovingly carried on by her surviving family, including her second husband, Richard Motycka; siblings, David (Carolyn) Guza and Alberta (Jerry) Hazelrigs; children, Michelle (Dan Burns) DeMarais; Patty (Brian King) DeMarais, Marty (Rene Shaw) DeMarais, Denise Beachy, David (Chasely Paul) DeMarais, John (Allison Parker) DeMarais, and Tammy Motycka; grandchildren, Braden (Roxanne) Beachy, Samantha (Clay) Nelson, Paul (Jessica) Borst, Nicole DeMarais, Allison Beachy, Kemp (Meriem) DeMarais, Mitchell Borst, Jacob (Jordan) Beachy, Julia King, and Jeremy King; great grandchildren, Annika Beachy, Kai Borst, Knox Nelson, Bri Borst, and Cal Beachy; and many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Roch Catholic Church, with Fr. George Amos officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, October 9, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ransford Funeral Home - Pigeon, 7356 Michigan Avenue, Pigeon, Michigan, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Mass will be followed by a luncheon at the church, with burial at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Port Austin. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Detroit Children’s Hospital Cancer Research.
