Rose Mary Koenig

Rose M. Koenig, age 89, of Caseville died Sunday evening, June 9, at her daughter’s home while under hospice care.

She was born July 19, 1912 in Detroit, to the late Mietz and Rose Mary (Macholl) Greca.
After high school, she became a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was united in marriage to Paul Koenig, November 2, 1940 in Detroit. After raising four children she went back to work at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Detroit. Her husband, Paul died in July of 1973 and she retired in 1974. That same year she moved to the Oak Beach area where she lived until 1995. She has lived at Oakwood Senior Apartments until her health began failing rapidly.
Rose had been a very active member of St. Roch Catholic Church and Altar Society and a member of the Caseville Retirement Club.

Surviving are two sons, Robert (Elaine) Koenig of Washington and Karl (Judy) Koenig of Walled Lake; two daughters, Patti Koenig of Pontiac and Mary (Michael) Musich of Midland. Eight grandchildren, Jeff, Kim, Bev, Janine, Curt, Beth, Dave and John; seven great grandchildren; her brother, Richard (Dorothy) Greca of Carleton and her sister, Anne (Erv) Jaworski of Port Austin.

A memorial mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, June 13, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch, pastor will officiate with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. The family will receive friends at the church after 10 AM Thursday

Memorials may be given to the Caseville Food Pantry or St. Roch Bldg Fund.
