Rose "Cookie" Marie Sakon

Rose "Cookie" Marie Sakon, age 76, of Unionville, passed away February 11, 2019, at McLaren Bay Region.

Cookie was born February 2, 1943, in Unionville, to John and Helen (Pistro) Mihacsi. She married Joseph Sakon on April 4, 1959. Cookie enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and cards, working puzzles, bowling, golfing, watching birds (especially hummingbirds), cooking baking cakes, camping, deer hunting, fishing, riding in the semi-truck with Joe, volunteering by cooking fish for the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of Our Lady Consolata Parish (Holy Family site) in Sebewaing.

Cookie is survived by her husband, Joseph; children: Allen (Lorrie) Sakon, Diane (Roger) Finkbeiner, Karen (John) Thompson, II, and Don (Shelly) Sakon; sister, Barbara (Ken) Billingsley; 9 grandchildren: Jeff (Jodi) Sakon, David (Sara) Sakon, Lindsey (Andy) Irion, Lucas (Danica) Bursick, Corey Bursick, Erika Sakon, John Wayne Szarapski, Nicholas (Heather) Sakon and Matthew (Hayley) Sakon; and 19 great grandchildren.

Cookie is preceded in death by her in-laws, Joseph and Anna Sakon; son-in-law, Timothy Bursick; and siblings: Dorothy Dillon, John, Eddy, Charlie, and Richard Mihacsi.

Visitation will be Friday, February 15, 2019, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, from 3-8pm with an evening Rosary service.

The funeral service will be Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Our Lady Consolata Parish in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
