Rosie Dumke of Caro, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at her home. She was born November 3, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Rosie had a master's degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin. Her specialty was counseling at the State of Wisconsin Veterans Department. She was a traveling counselor for the eastern part of Wisconsin, also servicing some of the upper peninsula of Michigan. She helped veterans with various disabilities, including those struggling with PTSD and those with physical disabilities. She had such a heart for those who returned from wars and seeing that they were able to function normally back into society. Rosie also started one of the first halfway houses in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for women, which become very successful. Due to a disabling accident, she retired from the counseling field, however, you could always see the counselor in her come out when faced with a troubling situation. She still had a heart for veterans and donated to many veteran associations. She also donated to many other organizations such as the Heart Association, Lung Association, Cancer Society, Sheriff's Association, and St. Jude's. She loved people and when shopping would seek out others who looked lonely. On more than one occasion when she was in the motorized cart, she would ask others in the same situation if they wanted to race. She also loved animals and couldn't even kill a bug. She loved watching all the wildlife that visited the feeders through the living room window. Her favorite season was fall, she loved watching the trees change into vibrant colors and sitting on the deck. Anyone who encountered her could see her heart for people and would have been blessed to know her. She is survived by her life partner and spouse of twenty-one years, Wanda Booth; her brother, John Dumke and his wife, Linda; sister-in-law, Joyce "Joey" Bosma and her husband, Lee; brother-in-law, Terry Booth and his wife, Tari Lynn; cousins, Ann Winiarski and her husband, Ed, and Roger Cupps; and several nieces, nephews, and very close friends. In keeping with Rosie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to one of Rosie's favorite charities mentioned above.
