Roy Michael Czajkowski

April 13, 1939 — July 19, 2005

Roy Michael Czajkowski, age 66, of Caseville, died suddenly July 19, 2005 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.

Roy was born April 13, 1939 in Detroit to the late John and Anna Marie (Kozlowicz) Czajkowski and grew up in Detroit. He served in the U.S. Army for six years. While stationed in Germany he met and married Gertrud M. Jung on July 24, 1959 in Lanstuhl. They returned to the U.S. and lived in the Detroit area. Roy retired from Chrysler (Mound Road Engine) in 1994 after 30 years, and then moved to Caseville. Roy enjoyed driving school bus for the past 10 years for the Elkton Pigeon Bay Port (Laker) School District. He retired from school bus driving on July 1st of this month. He was a member of the Caseville American Legion #0543. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was referred to as “Opa” by nearly everyone.

Roy is survived by his wife of 46 years Gertrud; daughters Mary Jane (Dale) Walczak of Lapeer and Susanne (Steve) Siver of Elkton; and grandchildren Justin, Matthew, Bryan, and Caitlin.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 23rd at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville, Fr. Ken Yaroch presiding. Burial with military honors will be in St. Roch Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday and 1-4 and 6-8 Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at church.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
