Roy Alan Smith

Roy Alan Smith of Caro, age 70, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at McLaren McComb Hospital in Mount Clemens. Roy was born February 27, 1951 in Pontiac, the son of the late Russell & Dorothy (Rossman) Smith and graduated from Avondale High School in Auburn Hills. He settled in the Caro area where he owned and operated Triple R Collision for almost forty years. He was a longtime member of the Caro Lions Club and the Kingston United Methodist Church. Roy can best be described as a caring, fun-loving, and generous man. He loved to watch movies, play cards, tease others, drive classic automobiles, and spend time with friends and family. No one was a stranger for long with Roy. He had a personality that could fill a room and a stubbornness that could frustrate even the most patient. His personable and kind nature will be missed by many. Roy is survived by two sons and their spouses, Robert & Tracy Smith of North Pole, Alaska, Russell & Lindsay Smith of Caro; stepdaughter and spouse, Kristin & Brad Petersen of Ames, Iowa; grandchildren and spouses, Nichole & Josh Skinner, Somar & Scott Lockhart, Chelcie and her fianc, Joshua Morgan, Karleigh and Ryder Smith, Riley and Lauren Smith, Mabel and Lila Petersen; great-grandchildren, Kya, Rylan, Landon, and Emma; siblings and their spouses, Kenneth & Sharon Smith, Donna Felsman, Charles & Pam Smith, David and the late Eileen Smith, Harold Smith, Larry & Marion Smith, Violet Smith, Barbara & Gary Whitney; brother- and sister-in-law, Larry & Fran Smielewski; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Gerie (Sieland) Smith; sister, Louise (Smith) Smielewski; and beloved dog, Max. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Kingston United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Herriman officiating. Roy's family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorials to the Kingston United Methodist Church or the Caro Lions Club.
