Roy L. Summerfield

Roy L. Summerfield of Caro, age 73, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Roy was born October 18, 1947 in Saginaw, the son of the late James and Sarah (Benn) Summerfield. He was united in marriage with the former Shirley Hayden on July 26, 1985 in Caro and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2012. Roy worked for many years in the farming industry, but preferred working to help others. He was a season ticket holder and enjoyed watching the Saginaw Spirit Hockey games, collecting diecast model cars, chopping wood, spending time with his brother, Danny, and grandson, Lane, Jr., at the Tri-City Motor Speedway in Auburn, and helping to work on the mud trucks. Roy is survived by one brother, Danny Summerfield of Caro; one grandson, Lane Torrey, Jr. and Cheryl Taylor of Mayville, and children, Myleigh, Dean and Lane III; one niece, Sarah Summerfield; and many step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was preceded in death by his friend and companion, Sharon Allen, on June 30, 2020; one sister, Carol Spencer; and one brother, Norman Summerfield. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held.
