Roy D. VanDeMark, age 86, of Sebewaing, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.
Roy was born July 19, 1926 in Pontiac, MI to the late Lloyd & Clayatha (Cousins) VanDeMark. He married Alice Gremel on June 28, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. They have been married 65 years. He worked at Sebewaing Light & Water for 42 years. Roy enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, camping, spending time with his family and his dogs.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Alice of Sebewaing; his loving children, Barbara (Frank) Gunsell of Sebewaing and Dr. Michael (Suzan) VanDeMark of Rolla, Missouri. He is the proud grandfather of James (fiancé Brandy Slocum) Gunsell of Sebewaing, Daniel (Angela) Gunsell of Sebewaing, Jason (Kimberly) Gunsell of Sebewaing, Audra (Adam) Anson of Missouri and Eric VanDeMark of Missouri; 6 great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Dillon, Devin, Savannah, Danny, Jr. and Hailey Gunsell. His dearest siblings, Larry (Gloria) VanDeMark, Mary (Bill) Oliver, Arla Meinger, Bruce (Brenda) VanDeMark and Judy (Gary) Hoppe. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Eldon, John, Arnold, Eddie and infant brother.
Visitation is Friday, November 2, 2012 from 2-8pm at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, MI.
Funeral service is Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial is at Silverlawn Cemetery in Sebewaing.
Donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing.
