Ruth B. Lennox Van Fleet

Ruth B. Lennox Van Fleet, age 89, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at her daughter's home in Caro, following a lingering illness. Ruth was born November 24, 1925 in Flint, the daughter of the late Frank & Pearl (Stilwell) Roseberry. The family lived in Saginaw for the next eight years before moving to the Metro-Detroit area, where she lived until coming to stay with her daughter a few years ago. Ruth was first married to Bill Lennox at the age of fifteen, and was happily married for the next thirty-three years. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1974. Ruth was united in marriage to Vern Van Fleet on June 30, 1979 and again was happily married for the next twenty-six years, until Vern preceded her in death on October 13, 2005. Ruth worked in the bookkeeping department at the former Wayne Oakland Bank in Royal Oak for many years. Her favorite things to do were spending time and going out to lunch with her sisters. She also loved bowling and shopping. Ruth was very active in the Dutch Reform Church in the Detroit Metro area for forty-two years, as well as teaching Sunday School classes for nineteen years. On Saturdays, she loved watching her cowboy TV shows. Ruth is survived by one step-son, Michael Thomas Van Fleet; two daughters, Patricia Ann Lennox, Marie L. & Chris Crafton; one son, William M. & Marlene Lennox, Jr.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Bizek, Myrna & David Nottingham; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Gloria E. Hart, Grace Hospice Chaplain, officiating.
