Ruth Irene Jaworski

Ruth Irene (Mellendorf) Jaworski, 79, of Owendale, passed away peacefully May 25, 2025, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. Ruth was born November 12, 1945, in Owendale, to the late Stanley and Erma (Hartwick) Mellendorf and was a 1964 graduate of Owendale High School. It was as part of the Owendale community that Ruth met the love of her life John Jaworski at a New Years Eve party and the couple would marry on August 12, 1967, celebrating over 57 years together. He survives her. Ruth spent her working years at Walbro until her retirement on April 15, 2011, but the real passion of her life were the granddaughters she adored so much. She enjoyed reading romance novels, watching the Hallmark channel, scrapbooking, and shopping. Ruth was inseparable from John and always spoke her mind. Her family remembers her as never being afraid of anything and as a perfectionist who made sure everything was in its right place.

Ruth is survived by husband John Jaworski; children Heidi, John, and Jennifer; granddaughters Kirsten (Cody), Jordan (Jalen), and Sage; siblings Bruce (Bev) Mellendorf,  Clare (Ruth Ann) Mellendorf, Joe (Sue) Mellendorf, Art (Romelle) Mellendorf, and Glen Mellendorf; and siblings-in-law Linda Mellendorf, Betsy Mellendorf, Renda Jaworski, Jeannie (John) Kata, and Jim (Helen) Jaworski; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by parents Stanley and Erma Mellendorf; parents-in-law Matthew and Amy Jaworski; siblings Dale Mellendorf, Wayne (Helen) Mellendorf, June (Don) Ackerman, Janet (Danny) Hartz, Gary Mellendorf, Jerry Jaworski, Ed (Mary) Kiehl, and Shirley (Joe) Pawlak.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Courtney Manor for taking the best care of Ruth for the last year and a half.

Visitation for Ruth will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Champagne Funeral Chapel, 7356 W. Michigan Ave, Pigeon, Michigan. A time of sharing is to follow at 7:00pm.
