Ruth Elinor Mohr, age 86, of Pigeon, passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2012.
Ruth was born on the family farm in Oliver Township on June 29th, 1926 to the late John and Dora (Fluegge) Weiss.
She graduated from Elkton High School and went on to attend business school and work in the Detroit area until she married George J. Mohr on January 24, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Berne.
She is survived by her husband, George; five children: George (Sharman) Mohr of Allegan, Gary (Becky) Mohr of Caro, Marion (Wallace) Hart of Williamston, Tom Mohr of Pigeon, and Carmen (Alan) Haag of Milford; eight grandchildren: Jason Mohr, Kari (Greg) Brabec, Shannon (Susan) Mohr, Erin (Chris) Emmons, Kelsi (Jason) Sawdy, Sean Hart, Kira Haag, and Taaven Haag; five great-grandchildren: Etienne and Julian Mohr, Sky and Will Brabec, and Taylor Ruth Sawdy; one brother, John (Norma) Weiss of Clinton Township; and many nieces, nephews, friends and special caregivers.
Preceding her in death were her step-father, Edward Gartha; brother, Arnold Weiss; and sisters, Norma Weiss and Dorothy Hinton.
When asked what made her life special, Ruth responded that everyday life, in particular raising children, was fun, with new adventures every day. Ruth was a homemaker; active in her church; a 4-H leader; business administrator; and sales professional for Sarah Coventry Jewelry and Electrolux. In addition, Ruth, herself, was a caregiver to many others during her life and was always willing to assist those with any kind of need.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. Rev. Timothy Loehrke, pastor, and Rev. Dawn Pooley (niece) will officiate. Burial will be at Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon.
Memorials may be made to the Cross Lutheran Church building fund or the memorial of choice.
