Ruth L. Witzke, 96, of Bad Axe, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021 at Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care in Pigeon.

Ruth was born May 27, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Gustave and Emily (Pearson) Krampf. She married Dale H. Witzke July 16, 1949 in Brooklyn; he preceded her in death on December 4, 2014.

Ruth worked as a secretary for McCall’s Magazine before moving to Detroit in 1949 and raising her family. She returned to work as a school secretary, retiring from Utica Community Schools in 1980. After retiring they moved to their cottage in Caseville and in 1996 to a condo in Bad Axe. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Caseville Retirement Club. Ruth enjoyed listening to Christian music, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her children Dale K. of Auburn Hills, Janice Heckroth of Caseville and James of Colorado; grandchildren Christopher (Benee) Heckroth and Nicole Leggier; great-granddaughters Melanie and Angelina; sister Mary Christensen of New York. She was preceded in death by her sister Emily Jencius.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, November 18th at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe with Rev. Kenneth Lueke officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8pm Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon.

Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
