RuthAnne Smith Adamowicz Mattingly, 66, formerly of Caseville died Thursday, October 24, 2013 while under hospice care.
RuthAnne was born February 21, 1947 (on her sister Florence’s 8th birthday) in Detroit to the late Robert C. and Dorothy E. (Ferland) Smith.
RuthAnne married Kenneth Mattingly 25 years ago. She was a women with an abundance of heart, compassion and humor. She was an LPN who, with her husband Ken, fostered many special needs children, adopting five of them to extend their family. RuthAnne loved children, especially those who were most in need of that special care and love. Having lived in Caseville for many years, they moved to Kentucky two years ago.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth of Morning View, Kentucky; sons Edmund (Michelle) Adamowicz of Demossville, KY, Anthony Adamowicz of Rochester, Makayla Mattingly, Michael Mattingly and Jordan Mattingly, all of Kentucky; step sons James Mattingly of Smithfield, KY and Samuel Mattingly of Henry County, KY; sister Florence La Rocca of Caseville; sister-in-law Patricia A. Smith of Caseville; brother-in-law Harrell Cook of Hale; granddaughters Amanda, Samantha, Katelyn and Annie; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Robert T. Smith (former Lake Township Supervisor), sister Mary Jane Cook, brother-in-law Carlo La Rocca, niece Kim Estfon, and nephews Stephen Smith and Harold Alton Jr.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 30th at Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with interment at St. Roch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service that day.
Memorials may be made to a charity which benefits special needs children.
