S. George Kovach, Jr.

Steven "George" Kovach, Jr., age 72, of Unionville, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Caro Community Hospital.

George was born March 4, 1947, to Steven G. and Helen (Halaz) Kovach. After graduating from high school, he was briefly in the United States Air Force being honorably discharged after a few months to work on the family farm. He married Mary Ellen Wolf on January 27, 1968, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Bach. His favorite thing to do was farm with his best friend, Bob Fritz. George also enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger years he raced snowmobiles and entered into numerous chainsaw competitions. George adored and loved spending time with his wife and children.

George is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; children: Dawn Kovach of Unionville, Deborah (Jay) Hood of Millington and Jason (Tracey) Kovach of Gagetown; grandchildren: Dakota Hartman, DJ Fritch, Haley Fritch, Jacob Hood, Owen Kovach and Josie Kovach; siblings: Mary Bell, Joyce (Gary) Webster, Joan (Wayne) Kowalski and Albert (Liz) Kovach; and many nieces and nephews.

George is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Frank Kovach and Julie Lyman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jerry Guilett, Rick Wolf, Donald Bell, Norman Lyman, Sr. and Pat Wolf.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.

The funeral service will be Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9am until the time of service at 10am. Rev. Thomas Garrison will be officiating.

Burial will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Bach.

Memorial donations may be given to the family or St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
