Samuel P. Gutierrez

Samuel P. Gutierrez of Caro, age 76, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Great Lakes Rehab Center in Saginaw. Sam was born May 7, 1945 in Troy, Texas, the son of the late Pablo and Diega (Puentes) Gutierrez. Sam was a longtime employee of Michigan Sugar Company starting out as a laborer in 1964 and retiring in 2011. He had a mean southpaw curve in bowling, liked watching western movies, and sneaking out back to enjoy a cold beer. Sam loved time spent with his grandchildren, and enjoyed riding a bike, loved jokes, and was funnier than a comedy movie. Sam is survived by three sons and their spouses, Sammy & Amy Gutierrez of Macomb, Steve Gutierrez of Caro, Don & Sara Gutierrez of Harrison; thirteen grandchildren, Logan, Desire, Ryla, Morgan, Damien, Logan, Sofia, Braylon, Cheyanne, Kobe, Kinsley, Maycie and Bowen; seven siblings and spouses, Ramona & Nick Stoick of Caro, Paul & Elva Gutierrez of Caro, Cruz & Tammy Gutierrez of Bay City, Ernie Gutierrez of Texas, Adam Gutierrez of Bay City, Rudy Gutierrez of Bay City, and Mary Gutierrez of Florida. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by four siblings. Funeral services will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 with Rev. Michele Hile officiating.
