Samuel M. Sinchak, age 84 years, of Caro, died on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born on September 5, 1921 in Monessen, Pennsylvania. Sam served in the Army Air Corps with the 101st Airborne during WWII. On May 20, 1944 Sam and Yvonne Baldwin were united in marriage in Bloomington, Indiana. Shortly after his discharge, they came to Detroit where Sam graduated from the University of Detroits dental program. He was employed until his first retirement at the Caro Regional Center as the institutions dentist. He continued his private practice until his second retirement at age 80. In addition to his family life and work ethic, he was involved in numerous other activities; a very active member of Rotary International, having served as president of the Caro club, District Governor of District 6310, and attained the honor of Paul Harris Fellow. Sam was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #3224 of Caro, Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 F&AM., Caro V.F.W. Post #4164, and held a 33rd Degree of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. In addition to his family, work and memberships, Sam loved the time that he and Yvonne spent at their Florida home and Caseville cottage. In addition to his wife, Yvonne, Sam is survived by his children, Dr. Michael and Cindy Sinchak of Fairgrove, Karen (James Fox) Sinchak of Waterford and Kevin Sinchak of Amherst, Mass.; two grandchildren, Erika Sinchak and Nikki Sinchak; three siblings, Margaret Dzimiera of Hollidaysburg, PA, Regina Feryok of Monessen, PA and Marian Monios of Hollidaysburg, PA. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen and Stanley Sinchak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, January 23, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk, officiating. Military honors will be afforded by Caro V.F.W. Post # 4164 following the Mass. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A Kof C Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rotary International.
