Sandra Morgan Hickey of Fairgrove, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at her home. Sandy was born March 19, 1932 in Jackson to the late Marvin and Lois (Stoughton) Males. She graduated with the first graduating class of Handy High School in Bay City in 1948 and began her working career in 1951, following her graduation from Northeastern Business College. On February 5, 1955, Sandy married the love of her life, Harold Hickey, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bay City, and they cherished nearly fifty years together before his passing on December 13, 2004. Throughout her working career, Sandy was employed at The Bay City Times and Dow Chemical, worked as a bookkeeper for Hickey Farms, served as a census taker, and was a member of the Gilford Township Election Board, among various other roles. Beyond caring for her family, Sandy’s greatest calling was serving as the church secretary at Fairgrove Presbyterian Church for over thirty years, where she was also a devoted member for many years.
Sandy is survived by her two children and their spouses, Vance & Diana Hickey of Millington, and Kendra & Ray Clark of Bay City; four grandchildren, Bethany & Aaron Kolb, Bridgette Hickey, Brooklyn & Caleb Wascher, and Brandi Hickey; and three great-grandchildren, Rem, Mila, and Madeline. In addition to her parents and husband, Sandy was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Twilla & Ray Talaga.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christina Jensen officiating. Burial will follow later in the day at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society in memory of Sandy.
A special thanks to Casey & Mike Hickey and family for their love, dedication, and support throughout the years.
