Sandra Kay Ruppal

Sandra Kay Ruppal of Akron, age 68, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. Sandra was born November 3, 1953 in Bay City, the daughter of Geraldine (Neu) Dewald and the late Frederick Jacob Dewald. She grew up in Unionville and was baptized at the Unionville Moravian Church where she remained a faithful member until her death. Sandra was also a member of the last class to graduate from Unionville High School in 1972. The following year, she was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart, Donald J. Ruppal, Jr. on August 25, 1973 at the Unionville Moravian Church. Sandra worked for many years as a housekeeper at Hills & Dales General Hospital in Cass City, Colling Church of the Nazarene, Unionville Moravian Church, and several private residences in the area. Cleaning fit Sandras meticulous nature and boundless energy. She was hardworking and always put the needs of others before her own. Sandra was sweet but also fiercely independent. She was endlessly supportive of her children and grandchildren and remained to the end a devoted daughter to Geraldine. Sandra made many memories while summering in Caseville and Port Austin, and also enjoyed gardening, canning, painting, puzzles, and made the worlds best pies. Left to cherish her memory are two children and their spouses, Kevin & Nicole Ruppal of Akron, Amy & Erik Hatfield of Akron: four grandchildren, Cadence Ruppal, Jacob "J.P." Preston, Dreu Ava Hatfield, Carter Hatfield, all of Akron; her mother, Geraldine Dewald of Caro; three siblings and their spouses, Mitchell & Cheryl Dewald of Unionville, Dale & Sheri Dewald of Unionville, Tammy & Al Jacobs of Caro; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ruppal, Jr. on March 13, 2021; and one sibling, Donald Dewald. Sandras family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow the visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
