Sara Martha McCracken, age 85 of Pigeon, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Bay Regional Hospital in Bay City.
Born in Crezenza, Italy on August 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Thomasina (Magliocco) Palopoli, and was a graduate of St. Frederick High School in Pontiac, Michigan. On January 11, 1947 she was united in marriage to Donald G. McCracken at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Pontiac.
Sara graduated with honors with a B.S. degree from Oakland University in 1966 and taught elementary school for two years in Bloomfield Hills and Grand Blanc. She was a homemaker throughout her lifetime and was known as a wonderful cook. In their earlier years, she and Don enjoyed traveling. Sara was an avid reader, she enjoyed playing bridge, and especially loved spending time with her family. She attended St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville.
Her survivors include her husband of 64 years, Donald G. McCracken; a daughter and son-in-law, Meg and Joe Nicholl of Caseville; two grandchildren, Joey Nicholl of Pigeon and Dani Nicholl of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, and a granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be private.
