Sarah Maria (Mclellan) Smith

Sarah Maria (McLellan) Smith of Battle Creek, age 39, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek surrounded by her family. Sarah was born November 5, 1984 in Marquette, the daughter of Carl and Kimberly (Hobson) McLellan. From an early age, she demonstrated an incredible zest for life, an unshakeable optimism, and a heart full of kindness. Sarah was a beacon of light and love, always putting others before herself. During her youth, she enjoyed ballet dancing and actively participated in softball, volleyball, track, and basketball. Sarah graduated from Pinconning High School and went on to serve in the United States Army. Throughout life she was known for her radiant smile, which could light up any room. Sarah had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved. Her genuine kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

A devoted mother, Sarah’s greatest joy in life was her children, Jamarrion, Letia, and Titan. She cherished every moment spent with them and the love for her children was immeasurable. Sarah loved spending time with her family and friends. Her unwavering spirit, infectious smile, and boundless love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sarah leaves to cherish her memory, her most loved children, Jamarrion and Letia of Mississippi and Titan of Pinconning; parents, Carl and Kim McLellan of Pinconning; the father of her children, Corey Smith; siblings, Ryan McLellan, Kimberly (Thomas) Fajmon, Carl (Marie) McLellan, Jr., Crystal (Chris) Willett; nieces and nephews, Brian, Alexander, April, Carl James, June, Gabriel, Carson, Connor, and Cora; many aunts, uncles, and friends. Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard & Sharon Hobson and Theron & Sylvia McLellan.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro, with the burial following at Almer Township Cemetery. Sarah’s family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her service.
