Sarah Olive, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Lake Orion Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Lake Orion, Michigan. She was born on March 1, 1920 in Pulaski, Tennessee where she grew up on a farm with two brothers and four sisters. She moved to Michigan in the 1940s and lived mostly in Drayton Plains in Waterford Township, as well as in Caro and Oxford. Sarah has been married to Hugh Olive for seventy one years, and together they have two daughters, two sons and their spouses, Connie & Doug Benedict, Brenda McManus, Fred & Cheryl Olive, Dick Olive; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She worked in Pontiac at the former Pontiac Motor Division, as well as taking care of her family. She has been a lifelong member of the Methodist and Baptist churches, and enjoyed reading the Bible. Sarah and Hugh spent thirty years living in Michigan in the summer, then residing in Zephyrhills, Florida in the winter. She enjoyed baking, sewing, cooking and gardening. Sarah also enjoyed going to church, doing crafts and painting, but most importantly, being with her family. She was very proud of all her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Caro First Baptist Church, 1535 Gilford Rd., Caro, Michigan, with Rev. Ronald Wigand officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery.
