Scott Martin, age 47, formerly of Caro, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital in Morristown, Tennessee after a short courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 26, 1960 in Cass City to the late Darlene (Cole) Martin and Lawrence Martin. Scott attended both Cass City and Caro Schools. For a number of years he had been employed at the AW Restaurant in Caro. He moved to Oregon where he enjoyed his love of skiing and then to Tennessee. In addition to his love for skiing, there was the love for the out-of-doors and his family. He enjoyed old hearses, especially Cadillac cars, and his Doberman Pincher dogs. Scott was saved at Yellowbranch Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member. His local relatives include his siblings, Richard Martin of Deford, Wesley (Sherrie) Martin of Washington, Delores (John) Jesso of Durand, Lisa (Nathan) Orton of Caro, Thomas (Tracy) Martin of Florida, Kevin Martin of Saginaw; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his parents and step-mother, Eva Martin, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gordon Houghteling. A memorial service will be held at the Ellington Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Comfort officiating. Burial occurred at the Bethesda Cemetery.
