Scott Wesley O'Dell

Scott Wesley O'Dell of Flint, formerly of Caro, age 44, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at his home. Scott was born July 22, 1975 to Wesley and Gloria (Trisch) O'Dell of Caro. He graduated with honors from Caro High School with the Class of 1994. Scott went on to study one year at Michigan State University and continued his education at Saginaw Valley State University, graduating with a degree as an Athletic Trainer. He has been employed in that capacity at Flushing Schools for seventeen years, and enjoyed spending time with and volunteering for his high school athletes. Scott was a loving father who was happiest when spending time with his children. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed motorcycles, kayaking, golfing with his dad, fishing with his boys, hunting and working out. Scott was an accomplished marksman with a muzzle loader and still holds a state record. In 1999, he married the former Rebecca Dawson. She survives along with sons, Elijah, Makiah and Maddex. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Shelley & Blaine de Beaubien of Cass City, Sue & Kevin Ruiz of Unionville, Jeff & Patty O'Dell of Caro; his in-laws, Vi Dawson and Larry Dawson; one niece and several nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Novesta Church of Christ with Pastor Brad Spiers officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A time of remembrance will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m, on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Raider Football Field, 525 Coutant Street, Flushing, MI for his sons, students, and his ATI family.
