Scott William Snyder of Caro, age 62, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Covenant Health Care – Harrison in Saginaw. Scott was born May 29, 1961 in Caro, the son of Percy Snyder and Jean (Donovan) Epskamp. On January 1, 1997, he married the love of his life, the former Deborah M. Craig. Scott worked at Six L’s, Inc. for thirteen years before his retirement in 2023. His job title had no bounds, he worked the drag line, hauled, was a mechanic, and shop manager, just to name a few. Scott was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Chippewa Indian Tribe and was very proud of his heritage. He enjoyed watching the NFL, was a die-hard Spartan fan, and there wasn’t a car he couldn’t fix. Scott dirt track raced for many years, bringing his family along to watch, that continued with his grandchildren. He was the glue that held the family together and if you were out of line, he was the one to put you in check. Scott was lovingly known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren, who were the lights of his life. He loved spending time with his family and always made sure to let his daughter, Autumn, know if she was holding the flashlight wrong. Scott’s hard working, stubborn, and nickname-giving self will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Scott leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, who he liked to refer to as “Butthead,” Deborah; daughter, Autumn “Auto” Snyder (Aaron Dorland); his most loved grandchildren, Sky-lynn (Harlan) Williams, Rykin Snyder, and Syrin Sherd; mother, Jean Epskamp; siblings, Laurie, Karen (Rob), Armond (Michelle), Rhonda, Daniel (Nora), PJ, and Michelle; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Percy Snyder and brother, Randy.
In keeping with Scott’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life is being planned for the near future. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
