Sharon P. Rumon of Caro, age 75, passed away in the early morning of Thursday, April 25, 2019 at McLaren-Bay Region in Bay City, following a beautiful sunset the evening before. Sharon was born August 15, 1943 in Detroit, the youngest of three daughters ((Dorothy and Elizabeth "Betty") born to the late Steven Paul and Anna (Morris) Stickle, graduating from Denby High School and then Michigan State University. Sharon married her teenage sweetheart, Robert James Rumon, on July 23, 1964, and four years ago the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They made their longtime home in the Castle Garden Subdivision in Livonia. She proudly became a mother to three children of her own and then it grew to more, James Steven (Michele) Rumon of Livonia, Cheryl Tee-Ann (Jeff) Beyer of Traverse City, and Ross Robert (Shelly) Rumon of Bay City. She worked at Livonia Churchill High School until a pre-retirement move to Caseville where she taught art. She would eventually move to Caro where their dream home modeled after a circa 1880's farm house was built to spend their retirement years in and have room for a growing family to visit. In Livonia Public Schools, Sharon (Ma Rumon to many) worked in the Resource Room, English and Art Departments. For years she coached cheerleaders, was a Freshman class sponsor, and made costumes for many musicals. For enjoyment, she spent time putting together display cases throughout the school. Upon retirement, she joined the Red Hat Society (Scarlet Sisters of Caro) where she became their Vice Queen and was the recent president of the Wixsom Club, the oldest women's club of Caro. She coordinated activities for the groups and volunteer work for places in the community like Caro Community Hospital and more, making wonderful friends and memories along the way. Sharon had a love and passion for all things art which showed in the way she beautifully dressed, decorated her homes, and decorated for the seasons and holidays. She shared art and her love for it with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also helped for a while with the Thumb Art Guild in Port Austin. She enjoyed shopping of all types, attending shows and other events with Bob and friends and extended family at reunions, holidays and other celebrations. A favorite thing of Sharon's was to stay summers at her cottage on the shores of Lake Huron and visit with family and special neighbor friends there. But her most favorite thing to do was be with her husband, children, and especially her grandchildren whom she nicknamed the "Perfect Eight," Andrew (Morgan), Robert, Kristen, Severin, Jeffrey, Kelly, Bellanna, and Katelyn. She was so very proud of each and every one of them and thrilled to be adding Morgan officially to the family soon. Sharon was loved dearly and will be missed by her family near and far, the many friends she had made over the years, and all the children and students she connected with whom are now grown adults. Soon, when we see a beautiful sunset on the lake, we'll be apt to think she is sharing art with us again. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held May 18, 2019 to come together and celebrate her life. Donation suggestions are the Alliance for the Great Lakes or the Thumb Art Guild.
