Shelia Ann Samu, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at her residence in Caro, following a lingering illness. The former Shelia Foss was born July 14, 1949 in Bay City, the daughter of Henry and Eloise (Myers) Foss. She was a high school graduate, a homemaker and mother. Shelia resided in Birch Run, Oregon, Alaska, and then came to Caro. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flower arranging and crafts. Much of her social time revolved around the Moose Lodge where she was a member of the Women of the Moose. Shelia is survived by two children and their spouses, Dawn Marie (Jeff) Creighton of Mebane, North Carolina and Dan Samu of Birch Run; their father, Bill Samu of Birch Run; three grandchildren, Anthony Zietz, David Hayes and Graceann Hayes, all of Birch Run; her mother, Eloise Early of Caro, one sister, Valeria (Paul) Smith of Lapeer; an aunt, Lydia Fries of Saginaw, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Foss; a brother, Randall Roy Foss; and a son, Scott Samu. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Burial will follow at the Birch Run Cemetery in Birch Run Township. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. The Women of the Moose will present a service of remembrance on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Judes Kids Battle Cancer (St. Judes Hospital).
