Shirley Marie Fox

Shirley Marie Fox, age 87, of Akron, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025 at the Tuscola County Medical Care      Community in Caro.

Shirley was born in Quanicassee on March 16, 1938, to   Alvah and Mary (VanHove) Southgate. After graduating from Akron High School in 1956, she married Jerry L. Fox on June 1, 1957 at the Akron United Methodist Church. She worked many years for Kuhlman Electric in Bay City. She then worked for Akron Fairgrove Schools as a dishwasher, teachers aid in the elementary building and then on to being the transportation director. She volunteered her time for the Election Board for many years. She enjoyed camping,    traveling and cruising to Alaska, Colorado, Idaho and the Michigan upper peninsula. Shirley also enjoyed working outside in her yard, coin collecting, ceramics, doing         aerobics, knitting and crocheting.

Shirley is survived by her three daughters: Debra (Peter  Gibbons) Fox of Bellevue, ID, Sandy (Todd) Clement of Vassar, MI and Kristy (John) Hill of Brimley, MI; three grandchildren: Addison, Emery and Jonathan Hill.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Leander Southgate.

Per Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place.
