Shirley Ann Hurd

Shirley Ann Hurd of Cass City, formerly of North Branch, age 81, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. Shirley was born September 9, 1940 in Oak Park, the daughter of the late Ira Strong Vern and Madeline Clara (Vanlant) Berndt and attended North Branch High School. In 1967, she married Donald Melvin Hurd, and the couple shared almost thirty-seven years together. Sadly, Donald preceded Shirley in death in 1996. Shirley enjoyed playing cards and euchre. She was a member of the Moose, Golden Years, and 5th Friday Fun for Friends. Above all else, Shirley loved being with her family. She will be missed dearly. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her children, Norine (Gregg) Frollo, Natalie (Alvin "Chip") Clarke, Kevin Hurd, Kelvin (Frances) Hurd, and Craig (Mary) Hurd; grandchildren, Melody, Justin, Zachary, Vannessa, Hunter, Kody, Haley, and Autumn; and great-grandchildren, Tanner, Brooklyn, Jakobe, Jaylyn, and Lilyana. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Klauka; and an infant brother. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the Caro Moose Lodge, where euchre will be played in honor of Shirley.
