Shirley Johnson

Shirley Johnson of Caro, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 1, 2021, following several years of declining health, and surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born March 25, 1943 on the family farm in Sebewaing, the daughter of the late Hugo and Anne (Bambach) Kaatz. She was united in marriage with Harold Johnson on Christmas Eve in 1966, and he survives. She owned and operated Shirley's Salon and Johnson's News Agency which delivered the Saginaw News to many homes and businesses in the area. Shirley loved crocheting and made many afghans and bedspreads through the years. She was a great cook, enjoyed gardening, watching soap operas, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Harold Johnson of Caro; two children, Mark Anthony Johnson and wife, Michele, of Caro, and Cynthia Ann Johnson of Caro; six grandchildren, Amanda McCann, Steven McCann, Ashley Johnson, Sasha Bates and husband, Ed, Kristen McCann and Alyssa Lawrence; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gerald Kaatz and wife, Shirley, Betty Parson, and Daniel Kaatz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Bloomfield and Mary Ann Pizenzia; and one grandson, Mark Johnson. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
