Shirley Ann LaFayette, 82, of Caseville passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Medallion Village in Sebewaing where she has lived for the past few years.

Shirley was born October 7, 1938 in Saginaw to the late Alex and Helen (Machelski) Krzyaniak. She graduated Arthur Hill High School in 1956. She married Wayne LaFayette on May 5, 1963 at St. Josaphat Catholic Church in Saginaw; Wayne preceded her in death March 19, 2002. After marrying they moved to St. Charles where she raised her family. In 1976 they bought a cottage in Caseville and retired to it in 1995.

Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Roch Women’s Society, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Caseville Eagles Auxiliary, Caseville Retirees, Library Club, Blue Star Mothers and the Red Hats. She spent countless hours making thousands and thousands of rosaries for the missions, knitting for charities, cooking, canning, yard work, playing euchre and selling Tupperware.

Shirley is survived by her son Leonard of Iron River and daughter Leanne (Shane) Roach of Royse City, Texas; and granddaughter Alicia Lake of Royse City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Ted, and sisters Betty and Janet.

A funeral mass will be 11:00am Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Saginaw. Visitation will be 2-7pm Monday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon, with a 4:00pm Rosary.
