Shirley Ann Maxwell

Shirley Ann Maxwell, age 86, of Caseville, died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Dawn’s Center for Seniors while under hospice care.

Shirley was born March 1, 1924 in Detroit to the late Charles and Lila Mae (Jackson) Howey. She was united in marriage to David G. Maxwell on June 7, 1947 in Lincoln Park. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2007.

A devoted homemaker and mother, she lived and raised her family in Detroit. Having had a cottage in Caseville since 1966, she moved here permanently in 2003. She had enjoyed spending winters in Bradenton, Florida for 15 years, baking, ceramics, sewing, gardening and time spent with the dogs.

Surviving are her children Dale (Kay) of Tennessee, Dean (Libby) of Harrison Twp, Duane (Heather) of Caseville, and Ann (Don) VanOverbeke of Marine City; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Mark and siblings Robert, Ivan, Donald, Gladys and Dorothy.

A memorial service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, June 4th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. Urn burial will be in Caseville Township Cemetery.
