Shirley Maxine Naugle

Today, November 19, 2019, a wonderful woman, wife, mother, and grandmother, Shirley Maxine Naugle, passed away at Carey's Young at Heart AFC Home in Caro. Shirley was born March 5, 1929 in Pontiac, the daughter of the late Frank & Doris (Mairtrott) Krueger. She was united in marriage with Paul LeRoy Naugle, Sr. on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1945 in Ohio. Together, they celebrated seventy-two years of marriage prior to his passing on January 2, 2018. Shirley sold real estate while living in Pontiac and Waterford. She continued to sell in the Tuscola County Area after the family moved to Mayville in 1960, eventually becoming a broker. The Naugle family owned and operated two restaurants in Mayville, the first from 1960 to 1967, the Mayville Restaurant, and the second, Naugle's Restaurant, from 1970 to 1973. After Paul retired, he and Shirley wintered in Port Richey, Florida from 1982 to 2011. Shirley loved to remodel homes and buildings to house new businesses, and through the years, Shirley and Paul owned several in Mayville, Caro, and Florida, each with Shirley's unique touch. The couple moved to Caro in 1996 and found a new home for Shirley to remodel. Shirley leaves behind three children, Paul Naugle, Jr., Pamela & Andrew Sopchik, Robert & Kay Naugle; seven grandchildren, Candy Naugle Laughlin, Julie Naugle Lynch, Eric Naugle, Teri Naugle, Andrew "Drew" Sopchik, Jason Sopchik and his girlfriend, Taylor Foley, and Robert "RJ" Naugle, Jr. and his wife, Ann; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren with another expected in December; brother and his wife, Gerald & Margaret Krueger; brother-in-law, Everett Naugle; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Patricia (Davison) Naugle in 2016; and grandson, William "Bill" Naugle in 2018. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Residential Hospice at www.residentialhospice.org, the Alzheimer's Association, or the Parkinson's Foundation.
