Shirley Ann Ryan

Shirley Ann Ryan, age 100, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, at Country Gardens in Pigeon, Michigan, under the compassionate care of Seasons Change hospice. She was a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love, adventure, laughter, and countless cherished memories. She will be forever remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Born on April 3, 1926, to Margaret Brom and Claude LeClerc, Shirley grew up to become a woman of strength, grace, and extraordinary spirit. During World War II, she proudly served her country as a Rosie the Riveter, a testament to the determination and resilience of her generation.

In June 1947, Shirley married the love of her life, James A. Ryan. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared adventures. She was widowed in December 1999, carrying his memory with her through the years that followed.

Shirley was never one to sit still for long. An avid boater, skier, snowmobiler, and golfer, she embraced life with enthusiasm and a wonderful sense of adventure. She loved traveling and exploring the world around her, always ready for the next experience and the next opportunity to make a memory.

But perhaps what made Shirley most unforgettable was her unmatched sense of humor. She had a special gift for entertaining anyone who crossed her path, bringing laughter and light into every room. Her wit, charm, and joyful spirit were uniquely her own, and those who knew her will forever smile when remembering the things she said and the laughter she inspired. She also maintained her beauty and elegance right to the very end, carrying herself with a grace that was as timeless as her spirit.

Shirley leaves behind her loving daughter, Laura Scharich (David), and her son, Michael Ryan (MaryPat); three cherished grandchildren, Russell Ryan, Michael Moore, and James Ryan.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James, and her sister, Audrie LeClerc.

Reaching the remarkable age of 100 was a milestone, but Shirley's true legacy is not measured in years. It is found in the love she gave, the adventures she embraced, the laughter she shared, and the memories she leaves behind. She lived a full and extraordinary life, leaving an imprint on the hearts of those who loved her that time will never erase.

Though Shirley's century-long journey has come to a peaceful close, her spirit will live on in every story retold, every laugh shared in her memory, and every heart she touched. She was deeply loved, truly cherished, and will be missed more than words can express.

A celebration of Shirley's remarkable life will be held next summer, when family and friends will gather to honor her memory and share the many wonderful stories that made her so special.

One hundred years of life, a lifetime of memories, and a love that will last forever.
