Shirley "Pebbles" Umphrey-Lipe

Shirley "Pebbles" Umphrey-Lipe of Caro, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at McLaren - Lapeer Region in Lapeer. Shirley was born December 27, 1935 in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of the late Hugh and Lucille (Griffith) Watson. She was united in marriage with Robert "BamBam" Lipe on December 8, 2001 at the Wahjamega County Church. Shirley was employed as an LPN with the State of Michigan working at various locations, the last being at the Oakdale Regional Center which she retired from in 1984. She was a member of the Calvary Chapel Fellowship in Vassar. Shirley enjoyed crocheting and baking cookies, and was an "avid elephant hunter" who loved collecting elephants. She also loved picnics, and the challenge of jigsaw puzzles, mounting the finished puzzles on her walls for wallpaper. Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert Lipe; five children and their spouses, Paul, Jr. & Tammy Losey, David & Goldie Losey, Russell Umphrey, Michael & Ruth Umphrey, Lucinda & Dale Ernst; step-children and their spouses, Billy Joe & Jan, Jeff & Cathy, Stephanie, Kathleen, Sandra Kay, and Deborah. She was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by five siblings, Norma Jean Watson, Harold Lee Watson, Wayne Watson, Robert Watson and Sally Cain. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the North Grove Cemetery with Pastor Tony Jacobs officiating.
