Shirley Warren of Caro, age 83, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, following a brief illness. Shirley was born May 4, 1933 on the family farm in Watrousville, the daughter of the late Clare and Mildred (Taylor) Stone, and has lived her entire life in the area. She was united in marriage with Keith "Bill" Warren on November 28, 1959. Shirley retired as a teacher's assistant from Highland Pines School, and was a member of the Caro Women of the Moose. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, vacationing with her family, and most recently, adult coloring. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six years, Bill Warren; two daughters, June Murray of East Lansing, and Diane Swank and her husband, Michael, of Bay City; six grandchildren, Atasha & Brian Johnson, Holly Sugden & Matt Kuras, Kirk Sugden, Chelsea Swank & Cory Wise, Brian Murray and Kevin Murray; three great- grandchildren, Carson Johnson, Zoey and Benjamin Kuras; one sister, Joyce Wood; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by one son, Michael Allen Warren; and one sister, Carol Peak. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Watrousville United Methodist Church with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation will follow the funeral. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Watrousville United Methodist Church, c/o Diane Swank, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
