Shirley Adele Wright, age 87, of Caro passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at AGAPE Care Systems in Caro. She was born on August 13, 1922 in Cheboygan, Michigan to the late Clyde and Cynthia (Galloway) Birdsall. She was a graduate of Cheboygan High School, and shortly thereafter her family moved to Caro. The former Shirley Birdsall married Samuel J. Wright on June 27, 1942 in Caro. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1989. Shirley had been employed as an attendant nurse at the Caro Regional Center until her retirement in 1985. She liked gardening, canning and knitting. She is survived by four children, Janice Pockrandt of Bay City, Wayne S. (Gloria) Wright of Linden, Charles (Lori) Wright of Bay City and Robert Wright of Caro; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Evelyn (Ferris) Rushlo of Sebring, Florida, Joyce Perry of Clio and Esther Collins of Unionville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, John Wright; and one sister, Delores Shannon. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Indianfields Township Cemetery Chapel on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Becker of the First Presbyterian Church in Vassar officiating. In accordance with Shirleys wishes, cremation has taken. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
