Shirley Ann Wrona

Shirley Ann Wrona of Deford, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was born January 8, 1946 at Detroit's Women's Hospital, the daughter of the late Norbert and Florence (Paultanis) Szambelan. Shirley was a 1964 graduate of Hamtramck High School. Shirley was united in marriage with Louis Robert Wrona on May 22, 1965 at St. Albertus Catholic Church in Detroit. This past year the couple celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren. Shirley was employed at St. Michael's of Wilmot and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mayville as their secretary for over twenty-five years until her retirement in 2014. Shirley's children and grandchildren were the center of her life and she showed them love and support every single day of their lives. She loved spending time and talking about the good ole' days with her best friends of more than fifty years, Sophie and Ken Megge, and loved and cherished watching their family grow alongside her own. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of over fifty years, Louis (Bob) Wrona of Deford; two children, Robert Wrona of Brighton, and Julie & Jeff Owens of Deford; grandchildren, Andrea Mikolon, currently attending Grand Valley State University, and Jason Mikolon, a senior at Cass City High School; sister, Marie Kay of Romulus; and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Earl Dopke of Deford; her father, Norbert Szambelan of Richmond; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Rose & Leo Mellerowicz, Joe & Irene Wrona, Ted & Irene Wrona, Bruno & Gerry Wrona, Dolores & Raymond Sobczak, Alice & Mike Kamsuik, Mary Wrona; a nephew, Eric Wrona; and nieces, Lori Adams and Kathy Mills. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are being planned. Shirley requested that all of those who cared for and loved her, spend a moment of silence in her memory and to continue to love and care for one another.
