Sidney Glen Vandercook of Caro, age 93, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Sidney was born February 22, 1926 in Royal Oak, the son of the late Zena and Mary Ann (Parker) Vandercook. Glen served in the U. S. Army, Blackhawk Division during World War II. Following the war, Glen was united in marriage on December 11, 1948 with the former Laura Godsey at her parents home in Royal Oak, and she preceded him in death. He was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for more than thirty-five years and following his retirement, he worked in real estate and reached a million dollars in sales with Gardner Realty in Lapeer in his first year. Glen was a former member of the Caro VFW Post #4164, served as a union representative during his time as a letter carrier, and was a member of the Caro Assembly of God Church. Glen is survived by five children and their spouses, Cindy & Ray Jacoby of Bliss, New York, Jane Curson of Saginaw, Glenda & Vince Cino of Batavia, New York, Sidney & Lupe Vandercook of Sandusky, Mark & Denise Vandercook of Caro; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Michaels of Detroit and Mary DeVoss of Midland. In addition to his parents and wife, Glen was proceded in death by one grandson, Trevor Williams; one sister, Joyce Karos; three brothers, Richard, Raymond, and William Vandercook. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 13, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. David Dietzel officiating and military honors afforded by the U.S. Army and Caro American Legion Post #7. Burial will follow at a later time at the Fairview Cemetery in Melvin. The family will be present to receive friend at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Caro Assembly of God Church.
