Sonja Buschlen

Sonja Buschlen of Caro, age 81, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Amazing Love AFC Home in Caro. She was born July 7, 1932 in Zurich, Switzerland, the daughter of the late Fritz and Lina (Hallauer) Buschlen. Sonja became a naturalized citizen of the United States on December 16, 1960. She was employed at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility for many years, from September of 1981 to December of 1994. Sonja was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro. She always loved animals, including a dear cow at home for some time, a monkey named Peanoy, and Barney and Coach her beloved Dalmatians. Sonja loved to have people around and enjoyed dancing in her younger years. She liked to go to Big Boy Restaurant for her meals and talking with the staff where they all knew her by name. Sonja also enjoyed long walks and nature, and getting together for lunch or special occasions with her friends. Sonja is survived by one brother, Werner Buschlen; one sister, Hedwig Salzmann; and one nephew, Christian Bernet; and many dear friends, Gladys & Richard Brigham, Mary Ann Stakalosa, Karen Urban, Joe & Kristy Chapelo and family, Will & Nicky McLachlan and family, Mark & Kim Reminder, Daniel & Kathy Guinther, Jim Reavey and sons, Esther Bryant, Ann Lenda, Vena Price, as well as Clara Schultheis and the entire staff from Amazing Love AFC Home in Caro. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Cass River Pet Friendz, the Humane Society, or the Alzheimer's Association.
