Sophie Setla

Sophie M. Setla (Dashkevicz) of Caro Died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at home. She was 79 years old. Sophie was a marvelous cook and baker. The Family and Friends thoroughly enjoyed her talents in the kitchen. Sophie was also skilled in sewing, tailoring, embroidery crewel and crocheting. Sophie loved the outdoors, going for long walks in the woods and enjoying nature. Sophie was noted for her natural ability to compass her way to find and pick wild berries, mushrooms and apples. Sophies door was always open and she was ready with her welcoming smile and hugs. The Catholic Church was a great source of Strength and comfort. She always remembered people less fortunate than herself, with food, clothing rides to appointments and to church. Mrs. Setla had been employed during her lifetime by Hudsons, Caro Canning factory, Marlex Manufacturing & Caro Plastics at the time of her retirement. Sophie was born in Caro and the wife of the late Walter J. Setla. She was survived by and was a loving Mother to: James W. Setla, wife Ronnie, Gary A. Setla, wife Karen, Jane M. Scott, & Dennis P. Setla. Sophie was also a Delighted Grand mother of six and Great Grand Mother of four. Sophie Setla leaves behind Brothers and Sisters: Nick (Donna) Dashkevicz, Nellie (Arthur) Boun, and Olga Jasinski. Sisters-In-Law; Wanda, Nina, and Jenny Dashkevicz. Sophie was preceded in Death by one granddaughter; Sadie Setla, three sisters; Ann Noga, Helen Bork, and Stella Dashkevicz, three brothers; John, Mike, and Jimmy Dashkevicz. Sophie was also survived by many relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Alzheimers Unit or Catholic Masses.
