Stanleen “Stan” Saunders, 75, of Filion, died Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw.
Stan was born January 18, 1941 in Detroit to the late Thomas and Stella (Sypniewski) Iwanicki. She graduated from Dominican Catholic High School, Detroit in 1959. She worked in the banking industry until her retirement in 2003, at which time she moved from Warren to Huron County. Her greatest passion was for her grandsons to whom she was a strong, kind and generous grandmother. She enjoyed crafting, collecting and needlework.
She is survived by her daughter Marieanne (Bruce) Begg of Filion; grandsons Kristopher (Courtney) Hoke of Bad Axe, TJ (Bri) Hoke of Bad Axe and Justin Hoke of North Carolina; great-grandchildren Conner and Kiana Hoke; and brother Thomas M. (JoAnne) Iwanicki of Warren.
A funeral mass will be at Noon Wednesday, March 23rd at St. Roch/OLPH Catholic Church in Caseville with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in St. Roch Cemetery. She will lie in-state one hour prior to mass on Wednesday in church. Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville is handling the arrangements. Memorials in her memory may be given to the Lions Club.
