Stanley Fessler, Jr.

Stanley Fessler, Jr. of Caro, age 95, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Stanley was born December 20, 1928 in Ypsilanti, the son of the late Stanley, Sr. & Hallene Ruby (Stader) Fessler. As a young man, Stanley worked at the family restaurants his father owned in Ypsilanti and Wayne. In 1943, his family moved to Caro onto the homestead farm that would become his lifelong residence. He attended Caro Schools, and on September 13, 1947, Stanley married the former Eileen Keating at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. The couple shared over forty-eight years of marriage, raised four children, and created countless memories before Eileen’s passing in 1996. In addition to being a lifelong farmer, Stanley worked for Michigan Sugar for thirteen years. He had a knack for tinkering and was always eager to fix anything that needed repair.

Stanley is survived by his children and their spouses, Barbara & Pat Castillo of Caro, Stanley III & Rita Fessler of Caro, Joseph & Debra Fessler of Vassar, and Greg & Jill Fessler of Caro; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marylin Mewhorter of Livonia. In addition to his parents and wife, Stanley was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Irene & Paul Jameson; brother-in-law, Warren Mewhorter; a granddaughter, Tina Beckrow; and a grandson, Joshua Fessler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. Isaac Madanu officiating. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. Stanley’s family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Christopher Food Pantry, 910 West Frank Street, Caro, MI 48723.
