Stanley Henry

Stanley C. Henry, age 85, passed away at his home Tuesday, October 19, 2010, following a lingering illness. He was born March 3, 1925 to Roy & Ila (Edgar) Henry in the same home he would pass away in eighty-five years later. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1942 and joined the Army one month later, serving most of World War II in the Philippines. Upon his discharge, Stan returned to the family farm where he spent the remainder of his life working, both with crops and dairy cattle. On March 1, 1947, Stan was united in marriage with the former Geraldine Hoard at the church of his baptism and confirmation, the Watrousville United Methodist Church. Stan also served as the Juniata Township Treasurer for over thirty years, Tuscola County Drain Inspector for four years, and as the Tuscola County Drain Commissioner for twelve years. He was a lifelong, and the oldest continuous member of the Watrousville United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Juniata Farmers Club. Stan most enjoyed being with his family, wood working, hunting, camping, square dancing and playing cards. Left to cherish Stans memory is his wife of over sixty-three years, Geraldine “Gerry” Henry; five children and their spouses, Virginia & Wayne Nesbit of Sandusky, Peggy & Eddie LaJoie of Cass City, Dennis & Barb Henry of Caro, Susan & Mark Rudy of Saginaw, Carolynn & Richard Neumann of Caro; sixteen grandchildren, including one special grandson, Ryan Henry, who was a great help in the care of his grandfather over the last year; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hoard and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by one grandson, John Nesbit; two brothers and three sisters.
