Stanley George Schneidt, age 89, of Caro, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2009 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw. He was born on June 19, 1920 in Vassar to the late Henry and Amelia (Karbowski) Schneidt. Stanley was a lifelong resident of Tuscola County. On November 29, 1941, Stanley Schneidt and the former Thelma Roth were married at Hillman. She preceded him in death on February 6, 1997. He was employed for more than 40 years as a millwright at Eaton Foundry in Vassar. In addition to his primary occupation, he farmed the family farm, worked at Hills Orchard and service stations including the Sunoco at M-24 and M-46. After his retirement, he enjoyed working on his son-in-laws farm, as well as hunting and fishing. He is survived by children, Judith Ann Irvine of Vassar, Larry (Thelma) Schneidt of Redford, Kenneth (Sylvia) Schneidt of Virginia, Wendy (Mark) Timko of Cass City; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; his older brother, Kenneth (Edna) Schneidt of Reed City; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his remaining siblings, Milton, Henry and Gladys Schneidt. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Cameron Steele officiating. Burial will be at Fremont Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
