Stanley Tabako, Jr.

Stanley Gerald Tabako, Jr., age 71, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Huron County Medical Care in Bad Axe, following a lingering illness. Stanley was born on August 22, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of the late Stanley Tabako, Sr. and Mary Natison Tabako. On January 22, 1958 he was united in marriage with the former Irene Lowry in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Stanley joined the Minnesota National Guard and served for ten years. While in Minnesota, he was employed as a laborer at Conwed (USG) Corporation and Michigan Peat. The Tabako family then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1986 where he had his own business, Property Maintenance and Repair. In 1999 they moved to Caro to stay and he was employed by Michigan Sugar Company and Tuscola Mosquito Abatement. Stan was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He made birdhouses and loved horses, working in the yard, fishing and the great outdoors. Stanley is survived by is wife, Irene; five children and spouses, Roger (Sandra) Tabako of Caro, Char (Jerry) Bradley of Sandusky, Cathy (Mark) Baumann of Floodwood, Minnesota , Kelly (Steve) Risacher of Wright, Minnesota, Karan Gross and Leon Guza of Bad Axe; his grandchildren, Russell Tabako of Caro, Angie Tabako and John Remme of Pine City, Minnesota, Josh Putnam and Tony Putnam of Caro, Kristy Groth of Cadillac, Dillon Baumann and Briana Baumann of Floodwood, Minnesota, Jeremy Huhta, Kaylan Risacher and Elizabeth Risacher of Wright, Minnesota, Sloan, Kelsie and Darian Gross of Bad Axe, Sommer and Rayne Guza of Caro; nine great-grandchildren, Damon, Regan, Delaney, Everly and Tatiana Tabako, Waylon and Walker Remme, Kei and Alie Huhta; his siblings, Pat Tabako of Wright, Minnesota, Kathleen (Chester) Thomas of Wright, Minnesota, Edward Tabako of California, Rebecca (David) Stenson of Wright, Minnesota, Bobby Jo (Tom) Meister of Minneapolis, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony; and a great-grandchild, Emma. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Fr. John Weiss officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Wright, Minnesota at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Tabako Family Discretionary Fund.
