Stella E. Clinesmith

Stella E. Clinesmith of Vassar, age 91, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. Stella was born March 23, 1930 in Vassar, the daughter of the late John & Virginia (Wasczas) Grabitz. She was united in marriage with Elgin W. Clinesmith on October 11, 1952 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese and worked at his side on the farm for many years. She was a faithful member of St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro, serving as a catechism teacher and volunteer for the Caro Knights of Columbus Council 3224. She also enjoyed playing euchre, bingo, and cooking, especially her famous Kapusta dish. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren. Left to cherish Stella's memory are three daughters and their husbands, Debra & Joseph Fessler of Vassar, Lisa & Mike Sopel of Ithaca, Sheila & Alan Wisenbach of Caro; two grandchildren, Jacob Wisenbach of Caro, Madison Sopel of Ithaca; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Elgin in 2014; one son, Eric Clinesmith; grandson, Joshua Fessler; and siblings, Raymond Grabitz, Mary Stoick, Stanley Grabitz, Leo Grabitz, John Grabitz, Helen Mikolajczyk, and Frank Grabitz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. T. J. Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro.
