Steven Jay Fader

Steven Jae Fader of Cedarville, formerly of Caro, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, following a long illness. He was born August 21, 1955 in Cass City, the son of the late Norburt and Catherine Fader. Steve had a passion for serving God and others. As a young man he was active in Youth for Christ, and especially enjoyed helping with the "Scream in the Dark" fundraisers. He also worked extensively with the Boy Scouts of America and was faithful to the Salvation Army, ringing bells every Christmas. Steve loved Mackinaw Island and spent several summers working there. He also piloted tourist boats to and from the island and late evening cruises under the Mackinaw Bridge. He will be missed by family and friends who came to count on his support with prayers and kind words. Steve did not ask for anything for himself, but was always willing to assist friends in need. Steve knew no strangers; everyone he encountered immediately became his friend. Steve is survived by his wife, Elaine Marie (Britton) Fader; sons, Steven & Hollie Fader of Des Moines, Iowa, and Joshua Fader of Cedarville; four grandchildren, Christopher, Caiden and Britton Fader of Des Moines, Iowa, and Grace Leslie of Minnesota; sisters, Karen & Ken Avery of Caro, Merrie Beth Schad of Huntsville, Alabama and Marsha Wright of Lansing; mother-in-law, Dorothy Britton, and brother-in-law, Richard Britton of Kingston; step-sisters, Julie & Steve Priestley and Krista & Robert Dean; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro.
