Steven Owen Schnake

Steven O. Schnake, 64, of Filion, passed away, Thursday, March 13, 2025 at home with his family beside him.

Steve was born July 4, 1960 in Pigeon to Gilbert and Barbara (Walters) Schnake and grew up in Bay Port.  He married Brenda Nickerson on September 11, 1981 in Bad Axe.  He worked as a chef at Bay Mills and Kewadin Casinos and Caro Correctional Facility.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and home improvements.

Steve is survived by his wife Brenda; children Cassandra (Patrick), Kory (JJ), and Nicholas (Alicia); mother Barbara Nickerson; grandchildren Jesse, Thomas, Leah, Madison, Johnathon, Rhyleigh, and Landon; great-grandchildren Chloe and Johnathon; siblings Jeff, Tammy, Juanita, Jennifer, Pam, Rodney and Joni.  He was preceded in death by his father, sisters Wendy and Lora, and granddaughter Ariel.

There will be a memorial picnic on July 4th (his 65th birthday) at his home.  Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
