Susan M. Dinkel, age 89 of Sebewaing, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Tuscola
County Medical Care Facility in Caro following a 3-year illness.
She was born December 22, 1923 in Elkton, daughter of the late John G. and Mary E.
(Essler) Bernhardt.
She was a graduate of Elkton High School.
She was employed at the Box Company in Elkton and later during World War II , worked as
an inspector for Briggs Manufacturing Co. in Detroit where they built Corsair fighter planes.
She was united in marriage to Edgar H. Dinkel on September 14, 1946 in Pigeon. He preceeded
her in death on April 7, 1984.
Sue was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church , and the Altar Society in Sebewaing.
Surviving are 2 sons and one daughter, Larry & Kathy Dinkel, Gladwin; Karen Anderson,
Essexville; Mark & Margaret Dinkel, Akron; 4 grandchildren, Suzanne Anderson, Joe, Jared,
Amanda Dinkel; 5 great-grandchildren, Noah, Thrace, Odin, Kaylee, and Olivia; several
Nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Holy
Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Fr. John Weis will officiate with entombment at
Oakwood Mausoleum in Saginaw. There will be a Prayer Vigil Service to be held at the
Funeral home at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Friends may call at the Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2 to 8 p.m.,
on Friday and at the church on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11.
