Suzzane Goebel (Harris), age 80, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 4, 1946, Suzzane lived a life defined by devotion, love, and quiet strength. She was a fiercely dedicated mother and grandmother who gave every ounce of herself to the people she loved. Her love was constant, protective, and unconditional. No matter how old her children became, she never stopped checking in, never stopped worrying, and never stopped being their safe place.
Her greatest pride and joy was her family—her whole heart walking outside of her body. She is survived by her loving children, William Edward Goebel Jr. of Sebewaing, Michigan, Dawn Markle of Bay City, Michigan and Kristee Schlaud of Maryland; and her cherished grandchildren, Justin Markle, Shana Goebel, Sophia Schlaud, and Cooper Schlaud. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Kyle F.B. Goebel.
She is also survived by her sister Shirley and Dick Todd of Ohio and her brother Kenny Harris of New York, along with many dear extended family members and friends, including Stacy Goebel, Brian Pawlaczyk, Brenda Tyson and countless loved ones from Sebewaing and Bay City, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Paul Harris, Don Harris, Jack Harris, Boyd Harris, Floyd Harris, Marie Harris, Allen Harris, Bob Harris, Junior Harris, Angie Harris, Carol Harris-LaPounty, Joanne Harris-Williams, Jimmy Harris, Beverly Harris-Kain, and William Harris and her parents Bert and Marie Harris.
Suzzane found joy in life's simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved playing bingo with friends and buying lottery tickets, always holding onto the excitement of "what if," often saying she would share it all so no one would ever have to worry. She enjoyed scratch-off tickets, turning even the smallest moments into something fun and worth smiling about.
She loved watching the Hallmark Channel, Dancing with the Stars, and The Bachelor. She had a special love for the color purple and red, pumpkin pie, and the beauty of nature—especially cardinals, hummingbirds, and flowers, which brought her so much peace and happiness.
She was drawn to delicate, beautiful things. She loved collecting snow babies, teacups, and little trinkets that made her smile. Christmas was her favorite time of year—she found so much joy in putting up her tree and sitting in the glow of its lights, surrounded by the magic of the season. Snowmen, sparkling decorations, and the warmth of that time of year filled her heart.
She also found comfort in life's cozy moments—soft blankets, new pajamas, and even her favorite Disney sweatshirts. She loved receiving flowers, enjoyed her Paparazzi jewelry, and could happily spend hours watching QVC. To her, those weren't just simple things—they were little pieces of joy she fully embraced.
Suzzane was beautiful inside and out. In her younger years, she carried herself with elegance and style, reminiscent of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She had striking green eyes and thick, beautiful hair—but what made her truly unforgettable was her heart. It was the biggest, most selfless heart, always giving, always loving, always putting others before herself.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and the way she made everyone feel cared for and never alone. She loved deeply, worried endlessly, and gave selflessly. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing her love will remain with us forever. She was the heart of her family—their constant, their comfort, and their home.
A celebration of life will be held on May 17, 2026, at the Sebewaing American Legion Hall Post #293, with visitation from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a luncheon included, followed by a service officiated by Brad Haist at 2:00 p.m.
